Need and importance of A.V aids in teaching learning process.

  An education system is explicitly based on the quest “what to teach” and “how to teach”.  What to teach means learning material and how to teach implies teaching methodology. The quality of education largely depends upon the quality of teachers and the teaching learning resources available for the system.Today’s students are learning facts,skills and attitudes from  pictures ,television,recorded words,programmed lessons and other media.Once technology enters the school building ,dramatic renovations usually begin.With the technological magic touch,a simple school house turns in to a systemized learning centre.In the instances where the student is the centre of attention,technology is catalyst for educational change.Media is the means for transmitting messages.Media includes such things as prints,graphics,photography,audio communication,television,simulating games and computer.

Steps involved in the development of listening skills


1)      Word identification Exercise

The teacher should give the student a list of words that is nearly similar in sound. He will speak the word and ask the student to tick the correct one. The group of words be like these: pull, pool: hat, hate: bed, bad.

2)      Dictation

It basically a test of writing but it can be used successfully to listening. The teacher speak out the passage and the listener will write it down.

3)      Listen and do exercise

The teacher will ask the student to listen carefully and it as instructed.
He can proceed like this. Draw a square on the righty corner of the page ………………………………

4)      Chick –list exercise  

The teacher will give a list of some random words or phrases. Then the student will listen the passage. They will be asked to check the list and give number 1, 2,3,4,5 to the word they hear,

5)     Picture Identification Exercise

The student will be given a sheet of paper with a picture of a person things or number on it. The will listen and on the basis of listening they will identify the picture.

6)     Question Answer Exercise

The teacher will give list of question to the student. Then he will read out a passage to them. After this, he will ask them to answer the question.

7)    Cloze Exercise

Close is a German word, means “gap “ or “missing part” .
The teacher will give a list of words. Then he will read out a passage to them. After this he will gave them the same passage in written form with blanks (missing words) at regular interval. Every 5th or 6th   word may be deleted. On the basis of their listening the student will fill the blanks.  

8)    Information Transfer Exercise

It means changing of information from one form to another .the student will receive information in oral form and will transfer it to charts diagram etc.

Listening 
Listening means lending ear to the spoken words with a purpose to understand the message .It is paying a conscious attention to whatever is being said. 
Steps involved in the development of listening 
 There are five step in the development of listening.
1) Perception and decoding 
perception  means the ability to recognize through senses.
decoding means making out the meaning of some thing. 
when a listener hear a spoken language. The language is in the form of continuous flow of sound and words. These words form short stretches of language which we call sentences. the second step is to make out the meaning of these sentences. This information is stored in the memory.   
2) prediction by neglecting redundancy 
   prediction means, guessing what is likely to come , neglecting redundancy means ignoring what is unnecessary.
